Option 1. You may visit our museum library during regular business hours where you will be assisted by our knowledgeable curator.

Option 2. You may print the Research Request form and mail it to the Society.

            Fees:  Our research fee is $20.00 per hour ($20.00 minimum fee).

 

 We will answer simple inquiries via E-mail. Research requests, however, must be sent to us on our Research Request Form accompanied by the research fee of $20.00 and a self-addressed stamped envelope.  Please mail the Research Request Form to the Society at the above address.

If your inquiry is of general information; such as a question on county history; i.e. When was the first Johnstown Flood? or Where was Beulah?, we suggest you call during regular museum hours.

Our Society also provides research services at the Cambria County Courthouse and at the Cambria County Public Records Center (Old Stone Jail). This includes Deeds, Wills, Marriages, Naturalization and Veteran records.  
  • Published regional, county and community histories
  • Cambria County census:  1800 thru 1930 (except 1890)
  • Card File: a cross-reference source to newspapers, family files, books, genealogies, etc.
  • Newspapers:  -Ebensburg:  1831 to present (original format and microfilm)
                          -Johnstown Weekly Tribune:  1882 to 1915 (microfilm) 
                          -Johnstown Tribune or Democrat:  1929 to 1965 (some gaps)
  • Family Histories
  • Family Files (miscellaneous files concerning surnames and family groups
  • Pennsylvania Archives
  • Cemetery Lists ( not all cemeteries in the county are listed)
  • Obituaries (mostly 20th century)
  • Subject Files:  boroughs - townships - people - historical events)
  • Photo Files (approximately 1,000)
